Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are high schoolers in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 grade that have high stakes assessments at the end of the year. Many of these tests are multiple hours long without brain breaks. Some of these tests qualify the students for high school graduation or college readiness; so there is a huge amount of pressure!

Please help my students with "Sweet Treats & Breakfast Bags" to help feed their brains during high stakes state assessments!

We know the brain functions better with proper nutrition and hydration, so I am trying to give my under represented students the best opportunity to do well on these critical tests. I do my best to prepare them for test day, yet I would like to give them just a bit more encouragement through some additional calories during the test.

My students are 60% Hispanic and 40 % African-American, and 79% of them are living in a high-poverty household that allows them to receive free lunch. My students live in the 4th largest school district in the USA and receive many donations to assist their education, yet small gaps are still prevalent, including testing snacks. Please help in this small, yet critical area!
