My Project
In my classroom, I love to use all the senses while learning. One way that really gets their attention is through taste.
Some students naturally grasp lessons from a lecture presentation, but all students love to learn while using food or snacks!
I use Cheez-its and pretzels and M&M's as a beginning math base ten lessons for place value. Then Cheez-its for area and perimeter and arrays. I use the Ice cream trays for the Ice Cream sundae the kids have earned while learning and completing their 0-12 multiplication times tables. I use bubble-gum math to walk them through, so each individual test they master they earn bubble gum. The kids get really excited when we start our fraction unit with Skittles and M&M's. Then when they are sometimes just blowing me away with outstanding behavior, everyone gets a sucker or tootsie pop bonus. No one can argue with earning a little something sweet to increase good behavior.
