My Students

Every little one's first year in school should be warm, nurturing and filled with wonderful learning experiences. Every little one needs a safe, comfortable place to rest their heads during their exciting, fun filled day in prekindergarten. Our students don't have that comfortable place anymore.

Hurricane Sandy has brought extreme devastation to my student's community, their homes and their school.

Because of Hurricane Sandy my prekindergarten students have been displaced from their school and now travel 40 minutes to and from their new school each day. Their day is long and filled with many challenges. We spend our days busy working on many wonderful learning experiences that develop their math, cognitive, language, reading readiness, gross motor, fine motor, and social/emotional skills. My students are so eager to learn and they need their energy to do that.

My Project

Our students need mats to rest on. At our new school we do not have mats for every child. Nap time is especially important right now, considering many of our students have been displaced from their homes and have not been sleeping well. Sleep is a major requirement for good health, and for young kids to get enough of it, some daytime sleep is usually needed. Crucial physical and mental development occurs in early childhood, and naps provide much-needed downtime for growth and rejuvenation. Naps also help keep kids from becoming overtired, which not only takes a toll on their moods, but may also make it harder for them to fall asleep at night.

Our students have had so much upheaval, so much change and so much unrest.

Your donation will help bring that peaceful rest time back to them which they need so much. Your contribution to our class will be so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for reading and caring. Please help bring my prekindergarten class back to the way it was and help give us back some of those sweet dreams.
