Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are four years old. For many this is their first time in school. They are primarily English language learners. They are excited and love learning.

Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.

My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues lacks many materials necessary in order to run rich classroom environments. Often we are limited due to lack of resources.

My Project

Our pre-k class has nap time every day. We use cots that are quite comfortable but we do not have blankets to fit them. We would love a set of cot blankets which are a great solution to keep our cots clean and to keep our kids comfortable. Each cot also needs to be labeled and right now we use labels which the children rip off. Cot labels would really help us to keep the cots organized.

Young children need to rest every day in order to maximize brain growth.

Some of our students have poor sleep habits at home or do not have a bed of their own and rest time is one of the few times they really get a solid good rest. We want our students to be comfortable and happy so that they are ready to learn!
