Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Trenton, New Jersey, is (and this is amazing!) a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language, Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native to Trenton, struggle to meet basic classroom needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to make sure they have a classroom filled with essential items that they can access at any time. Their social/emotional well-being depends on knowing that they are free to use basic learning items in our classroom that will not run out! I am therefore creating a take-what-you-need shelf that students can access at any time!

The items I am requesting will provide our spring learners with basic needs for building their sustainable cities - I am requesting basic craft materials.

These materials will go a long way in ensuring our students have an organized and functional classroom that supports their social-emotional learning. I am requesting basic supplies for students to build sustainable cities so that they do not need to purchase items on their own. Students will be able to access them whenever they need!
