My Project

The weather is changing, and so is the climate of my classroom. As I welcome a classroom community that represents a worldwide perspective, I need materials that range from basic to essential. The students whom I welcome into my classroom are members of the Global community. My students’ origins provide them with a unique perspective on how the world’s climate and the environment are changing.

I need to create a learning environment that is inclusive while offering tools and supports that are rooted in science, sound pedagogical practices, and mindful of culturally responsive needs.

The urgency for climate change education in the classroom is high. As educators, we are charged with providing our students with information that is rooted in science, facts, and data.

The classroom is oftentimes the first place where students are initially exposed to information that will lead to them becoming lifelong learners. In order to ensure my students capture content, material, and a set of skills that are transferable.

The students who walk into my classroom are students coming from different life experiences. The myriad of perspectives creates a classroom community of learning that embodies a kaleidoscope perception of information, science, and knowledge. As I embrace the schemas of my student’s lives, I have found the classroom to be a place of enlightenment and cognition that is unmatched. I know with the necessary materials; my classroom will be an environment that supports learning beyond the four walls of the classroom.
