Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are super inventive and deeply concerned about the effects of climate change on our planet. We have started a Green Team where we learn about sustainability projects worldwide and also about small local efforts to improve our carbon footprint. Our Green Team wants to use discarded paper and cardboard in the school community to make our own homemade paper.

We are asking for the blenders and paper-making screens for our MakerSpace so that we can mulch and repurpose old paper.

Students plan to add to their paper some natural materials from gardening and growing. We plan to use some of the recycled paper we create for invitations. We are looking forward to opening a Sustainability Museum in our school. We need to make invitations. The museum will be filled with all of the art we make all from recycled materials.
