Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Kindergarten students are creative and hardworking. They come from low income households in the Bronx- which has been a highly affected COVID 19 area. Most of them have not been able to leave their households due to the circumstances.

With the city being hit so hard, students were not able to gather the appropriate learning materials before leaving school.

Many of my students lack notebooks, crayons and writing materials. They are keen to learn and eager to return to school as soon as possible.

My Project

My students are hard workers who deserve a special graduation gift. These materials will encourage them to keep working hard. This bunch of kids are especially interested in creating art and they need the tools to encourage their passion. During our weekly google meets we watch YouTube tutorials and draw together, but unfortunately not all of them have the necessary materials to fully participate.

They are working on their letters and handwriting so the notebooks and dry erase boards will inspire them to keep practicing.

During these circumstances, where outdoor activities are not easily accessible, it is important for my students to continue their hard work and keep busy.

Since they are not able to have a graduation in person we will have a virtual one, where I hope to send them gifts and put a smile on their faces.
