My Students

For the majority of my students, school is their safe zone. More than half of them come from low-income households, thus they do not have the means needed to purchase basic supplies. Additionally, because most of my students' parents must work multiple jobs to make ends meet, they are lacking emotional support. Many of them even get ready for school on their own and come home to an empty home. My classroom is the one place they know they can come to and feel secure and supported. My goal is to mold my classroom into a comfortable space that will allow their inquisitive minds to flourish.

My Project

My students excitedly ask me every day, "Are we doing centers today?" Center work is a crucial part of my daily routine in my 3rd grade math classroom. Right now, centers can sometimes be difficult and uncomfortable since they often work with other students on the floor. By helping me provide Surf Portable Lap Desks to my classroom, you will help maximize their comfort in a tremendous way. Not only will they have somewhere to sit besides the cold ground, this portable desk has a tray that allows them to have a space to work on instead of having to awkwardly place their paper on the ground or against the wall to write.

Comfortable students are happy students, and happy students are better learners!

In addition to helping me supply my classroom with Surf Portable Lap Desks, I am also asking for Wiggle Stools. My students LOVE to move. They move all the time, as it helps them stay active and concentrate better. By providing these wiggle stools to place around my small group table, you are helping my students work while also keeping their mind sharp by moving.
