Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The impact of Covid-19 has been felt in many communities, but for students with special needs and additional challenges, it has been felt tremendously. The students I work with come to school every day and are looking for ways to engage in the learning just like their peers. For them, it can be much harder. Many of these students face sensory challenges, memory issues and fine motor deficits that make learning much more challenging for them. They require flexible seating options like wobbly chairs, weighted lap pads and floor seats to help them get their sensory needs met. In addition, using sensory items like tactile alphabets and letter games using LEGO blocks will help them be engaged in their learning to retain the information. These resources will help them succeed and close the gaps that the pandemic has created.
