Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Being able to offer my students a diverse selection of books where they can see themselves and others reflected on pages is something incredibly important to me and something that I wish I had access to growing up. By adding new books to our library, students will have the opportunity to read texts that are both engaging and developmentally appropriate. Expanding our classroom library will ensure that students of all levels can enjoy quality literature that allows them to explore new topics and develop a love for reading.

Access to a wider range of books will also help support my students in the development of their foundational reading skills like reading fluency and comprehension.

By having a combination of decodable texts, leveled texts, and trade books, students will be able to practice independently reading at their own pace while also exploring more complex literature. This mix will help students build their confidence and stamina in reading.

Please help me grow our classroom library to provide students with the resources and tools to continue being the super readers that they are!
