Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in art club are interested in learning different mediums of art including fashion. Additionally we have many students that come from low-income communities and learning how to sew will be very helpful as they can learn to make their own clothes or even alter their clothes with little cost. This can improve the students learning as well because that is one less thing they have to worry about when it comes to ill fitting clothes or clothes with tears in them, this can improve their mental health and overall life experience.

My goal is to teach children how to fix tears and alter clothes.

The snacks will be helpful to their learning as well. Again, my students come from low-income communities and sometimes the breakfast in the classroom is not enough. Some students do not get the luxury to eat snacks that their peers eat and this can also help kids feel better. Students will be able to comfortably go throughout their day. When it comes to the kleenex, it is inevitable that students will get sick. There are periods of time that our students do not have kleenex and will wipe their noses on their clothes which makes them feel insecure. Students feel better when they have easy access to kleenex when they are ill.
