My Students

Students with special needs are a JOY to teach. I teach a bridge 1st and 2nd-grade self - contained class in a Title 1 school. My students reside in an academic and economic disadvantaged community beyond their control. They struggle to find their place in blended and extended family households. Each student brings an element of character into the classroom that encourages me daily to always reach for the stars. Although they have academic, emotional, and social barriers that hinder their learning, the eagerness in their eyes to be successful drives me to provide the best learning experiences possible for each of them.

My Project

COVID-19 has put financial strains and stress on many families. As an educator, I just want to provide a sense of normalcy. The materials for the students will be used at home and at school....whenever we return. I want to bring life to the lessons, and provide students with similar classroom experiences that they can share and enjoy with their families. The books will provide the joys of reading and engage the students in diverse conversations. The supplies will minimize financial worries for families. They will also mimic the same activities from the classroom. These materials will show students that regardless of where you are....education is a priority.
