This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would like to give my students a quite corner to support their mental health. Comfortable or flexible seating would allow students a space to complete work, read, and refocus. Students have been requesting a quiet area and flexible seating for a few years now. I hope with this project funded students will finally have an alternate seating area to complete classwork. A quiet corner or alternate seating like bean bags and wobble chairs would offer a space for all students especially those students in my class who have special needs. This project was inspired by a student who spent their entire class time standing up. This is how they completed their work and participated in class discussions. I provided them with a donated wobble chair, but would now like to extend the same opportunity to others. Sitting at a traditional school desk can be tiring and uninspiring. A change of pace would help alleviate just that.
