Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a small public charter school in San Bernardino, California. Our students are excited to learn new things and love having individualized attention. They come from all different backgrounds and have different living situations.

Our whole school works really hard to help keep students engaged and parents informed about what is going on at school.

I work with students who are struggling with different things or who might need a little extra attention individually, in small groups, and in virtual classroom SEL lessons.

Many of these kids have not learned basic social skills or have challenges that make it harder for them to develop these relational skills. Many of them have not had a healthy example of how to cope with emotions, and some need some help developing these skills and having someone work with them so they can be successful both in school and at home.

These students are resilient and incredible, and they deserve every opportunity to be successful in academics and life.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of books and resources that will help me build new ways and strategies to support our Middle Schoolers deal with the things they are going through.

I am looking forward to having new resources in my toolbox to help our students deal with their grief, stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma to help support their mental health.

I would also like to be able to have resources like fidget tools available to help them as they navigate this new normal and return to school. I will use the fountain, oil diffuser, and rock lamp to provide a calm and safe space for them on campus.
