Supporting Our Therapy Dog

Help me give my students a well supported emotional support dog. The district asks that the therapy dogs have a crate and bed in various locations on campus to rest between visits and toys to be active.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pawsitive Peers is a school dog program in our district. A staff member and their dog pass obedience and therapy classes then are tested and approved by Pet Partners® Therapy Animal Program. Once approved, the dog can come to campus with the handler and interact with students.

In the current state of the world the social and emotional health of students is low.

The Pawsitive Paws dogs serve as a trusted companion in the counseling, health or administrative office for crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or to address stress, anxiety and/or isolation.

My Project

When students are in a healthy state of mind they are more open to learning. Pawsitive Peers is a therapy dog program where a school staff member and their dog go through training to provide support. Once approved, a dog can come to school to support students socially and emotional throughout the school day. We are excited that the our school just had our first dog approved in the Pawsitive Peers program and we are in need of the support items for the dog. These materials are the requested items that the therapy dog have on campus to ensure their well being and health to be ready to do their job.
