My Project

I am an Early Childhood Special Education teacher. My goal is to build a more fun, calm, and predictable learning environment for my students. With these materials, I plan to implement more sensory supports into my classroom, develop a better calm-down corner, and provide my students with the support that they need to be successful.

Regulation is the key to success for my students.

Having access to a variety of sensory supports offers a variety of sensory inputs. All of my students find regulation through their sensory experiences, though not all experiences are regulating for each student. The variety of sensory supports would help my students regulate and find success within my classroom. Exploring their sensory needs and their emotions are highly valuable learning opportunity for my students.

My students strive for predictability and routine. Having additional ways to organize my classroom will help my students find independence in exploring their environment and interests. Additionally, my students require visual supports, such as visual timers, to transition between locations and activities.

Lastly, I want to create a fun learning environment! I would love to incorporate a wider variety of cause-and-effect toys. After all, "play is the highest form of research." I would love to have additional ways to learn and play alongside my students. These toys are based on student interests as well as their cognitive goals and objectives.
