Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My project seeks to provide essential classroom supplies for my special education social studies classes. By securing these funds, I aim to eliminate the financial burden on students and their 'Ohana, ensuring all my students have equal access to the tools needed for success. Additionally, I have asked for engaging posters and inclusive books, in the hopes that they will enrich the classroom environment and foster a welcoming and supportive learning space for all my haumana.

Here in Hawai'i, our students come from so many diverse backgrounds and it is my hope that through this project, I can help my Special Education students feel further connected to the curriculum, and allow them to see themselves and their stories reflected in this curriculum.

I have also included materials such as snacks and prizes to reward students, thus fulfilling our goal of having students be in the "ready to learn" mindset. With this, student engagement and classroom environment can allow for the development of a true classroom community. Mahalo nui for your help!
