My Students

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” – Carl Sagan.

My students face many socioeconomic as well as emotional challenges during this time of remote learning.

They succeed when high levels of engagement and interest are harnessed.

My Kindergarten learners have many unique qualities, but also have much they are striving to fulfill in life both academically and socially.

Inclusion is supported in my classroom by honoring multiple intelligences and our diverse backgrounds. Students will make longer lasting connections to literature and learning if they better represented in the books that they are exposed to in class.

My Project

My incredibly motivated students strive to learn when exposed to engaging high interest literature that includes their experiences and allows them to harness their hopes and dreams.

Increasing representation in literature in our classrooms is a necessary step in supporting inclusion.

We also need to allow for a variety of context rich learning styles in our classrooms. Varying fiction and nonfiction titles as well as highly visual content bring learning to life.

Remote learning can be successful with a variety of resources and strategies on hand. Please support my class.
