My Students

Do you remember fourth grade math? Today's fourth grade math goes far beyond what was expected from students a generation ago. Our challenge is to prepare every student for the 21st century.

My students attend a small, urban elementary school in a mid-sized city.

The majority of kids in the school are eligible for free or reduced priced meals. Many of my students have limited learning experiences outside of school. Being able to supply them with a rich learning environment in school is critical. Aside from the challenges faced, my students have a wonderful enthusiasm for learning.

My Project

Our school motto is "knowledge is power". This statement has never been more true than it is today. My goal is to give a foundation of math skills that will last a lifetime and give my students the ability to be successful citizens in the 21st century. My students need math practice, games, and activity books such as Strand Attack, The Star Within Math Activity Book, and Common Core Math 4 today, and Daily Practice. By funding this project, you will be supplying my classroom with books that provide practice for students in the classroom by providing a rich assortment of learning games and activities aligned with the common core. These books will provide the differentiation that will help all levels of learners. The activities and resources will help me better reach all styles of learners. These math resources will make a difference for my students as they take on the challenge of learning. The activities and lessons that this project is supporting will make math come to life through games, center learning, and by helping students to make connections to real life. Having these resources will our students build greater number sense.
