This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a welcoming and nurturing Title I school in a low socio-economic area and I teach in an integrated classroom where students of all abilities, both in general and special education, learn and work together to achieve success. Throughout the day, we focus on differentiated teaching in small groups to meet the needs of all learners and we are always striving for new ways to interest and excite them as they learn.

Our second graders are beginning an engaging science unit where they will explore outer space, force, and motion and they are in need of art materials to help them creatively express and showcase their understanding.

We would like to provide them with varied and engaging art supplies to help them create dioramas, 3d models, posters, mobiles, and more of the planets in the solar system. Please consider helping us acquire the materials we need for this engaging science task!

My Project

The students in second grade are a wonderfully diverse group of learners from all walks of life. They are so incredibly excited to learn about outer space and are filled with wonder and questions about the solar system during every lesson! Their parents may often struggle to provide for their basic needs, therefore art supplies may not be readily available for them at home.

We strive to provide our students with learning tasks that are multi-disciplinary and tap into their multiple intelligences and learning styles, so this project will be used to showcase student learning in science by creating dioramas, mobiles, posters, 3d models, etc of the solar system or their favorite planets.

Students will be displaying their understanding in science while having exposure to different art materials. They will also use these projects to inspire and enhance their informational writing "All About the Solar System". Please consider donating to this project, which will benefit all the second graders in our school.
