Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During art, many students enjoy the extra sensory stimulation and excitement of experiencing the materials, but there are many that also need some noise reduction and other adaptive equipment. It can be a bit overwhelming and headphones to reduce the overall sound are something several of my students ask for. I would love to be able to provide those students with noise reduction headphones. We have students who would appreciate the calming vibration pillow and it would provide sensory input while helping them stay focused and seated. Our students with low vision would benefit from the magnifying table and the slant board would help improve posture and allow for reduced eye strain, enhanced visual tracking, and better handwriting. Squigz, those flexible, suction-cup toys, offer benefits like developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory exploration, while also promoting creativity and imaginative play

Providing adaptive support will help make the art room a more inviting and supportive place for my students with diverse needs.

I want them to feel welcome and calm, allowing them to focus on their art.
