Hello! I am a 3rd-grade teacher in Springfield, Missouri. My students have worked so hard this year as they've grown as readers and writers. We currently do not have dictionaries to use in my classroom. One of our state standards is all about dictionaries!
Students are expected to be able to use dictionaries to learn about the syllabication of words, how to pronounce the words, and what the words mean.
It would be incredible to have these dictionaries available to support students as they learn about dictionaries and increase their vocabularies and literacy skills! Dictionaries would also allow students to easily fix spelling mistakes in their writing and look up synonyms to support strong word choice! I look forward to looking out into my classroom at my students with their dictionaries open, excited to read, search for words, and learn! My colleagues and I thank you so much!
