Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My class of 5th graders this year has a voracious appetite for reading! They have demolished most of the books in my library and are ready for more! The biggest need for our classroom of critical thinkers is non-fiction books! They are so curious about so many things, and I want to give them the opportunity to be able to have everything they want to read at their fingertips.

Beyond fostering a love of reading, I strive to create a classroom environment that supports all aspects of my students' learning.

To do this, I am seeking additional supplies that will enhance their reading experience and overall classroom engagement.

Wet wipes are essential for keeping our learning space clean and inviting, ensuring that students have a comfortable and sanitary environment to read, write, and collaborate. Headphones allow students to engage with audiobooks, online research, and individualized learning without distractions, making sure every student can focus on their own reading journey. Markers help bring their thinking to life as they annotate texts, create graphic organizers, and engage in meaningful discussions about what they are learning.

Additionally, two bean bag chairs would provide much-needed flexible seating, giving students a cozy, comfortable space to dive into a good book. Having inviting reading spaces encourages students to read more and engage deeply with texts. Lastly, and most importantly, we need more books! My students are insatiable readers, eager to devour nonfiction texts that expand their understanding of the world. By providing a wide range of books, I can continue fueling their curiosity and critical thinking skills.

With these resources, I can ensure that my students not only have access to the books they crave but also a supportive, engaging, and well-equipped classroom to grow as readers and learners. Thank you for considering my request!
