Help me give my students the basic supplies to be successful in school.

My Students
I am the school guidance counselor and basketball coach at a Title I elementary school in Brooklyn, NY. Our neighborhood school has a multitude of diverse students from many different cultures and backgrounds.
I recognize that our low-income students have basic needs like book bags to carry their belongings everyday to school which will help them engage in lessons, as they gain knowledge they can bring back to their community to improve overall welfare.
It aids school attendance, helping children to overcome instability and identity crisis as they have the necessary tools to get a quality education. I want to provide academic, social and emotional development, and college and career readiness skills for all the students at my school.
With funding so limited in our school, money for book bags are non-existent. I'm reaching out for help so we can develop minds of our future leaders.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference in the students learning by helping low income families save money and provide supplies for their child/children. My school will host a “Back to School Drive” which will give families opportunities to come get supplies and save time and money from going to a store.
Scissors, pencil cases and glue will also help students enjoy arts and crafts.
It will also help improve school attendance because students will be motivated to come to school widen they feel empowered.
I’m reaching out for support so we can develop creative minds for our future leaders.
