My Students

Each of my students comes with a unique set of baggage that may include academic deficiencies, social challenges, economic disadvantages, and emotional struggles, but they do not let that define who they are. Every day they amaze me with their determination and perseverance. They are eager to learn and ready to tackle the world.

Our classroom culture is built around embracing these unique experiences.

We learn acceptance through character building, collaboration, learning to trust others, and compassion as part of our daily work.

My Project

I have the privilege of working at an amazing school with an incredible staff and students. However, it is a Title 1 school where all students qualify for free lunch. Most students lack the basic supplies needed such as notebooks, pencils, etc. Our parents work very hard to provide their children with what they need for school, but many times they fall short.

As a fifth teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure my students' school experience is a positive one regardless of what they have or don't have.

If that means I purchase their school supplies for them, I do. I want learning to be their number one priority, not being concerned about what they do not have. The funding of this project will help provide the basic necessities such as notebooks, pencils, pens, paper, etc. for our class. It also will provide me with a daily planner to help organize our learning and set my students up for success.
