My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving, and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

Room transformations have already made a difference in my students' learning, so help us replenish our items to use for our engaging and collaborative lessons! What second grader doesn't enjoy walking into a room decorated like a construction zone, animal safari or all-American cafe?! Imagine a glow room filled with neon learning activities, a blue operating room or traveling around the world within the walls of our classroom. At the end of last year, I gave a survey to find out students' favorite lessons that impacted their learning. Every student mentioned at least three or more of the room transformations listed above. These materials make learning exciting and memorable while helping them understand or reinforce challenging concepts and inspiring creativity. The various hats, bandanas, decor, backdrops and glowing items will allow students to engage in creative play while learning.
