Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Kindergarteners that I teach are bright and eager four and five year olds who crave to learn about the world around them. My students are constantly seeking answers to their questions and searching to make connections with those around them.

My students are kind and compassionate.

The students that I teach are truly remarkable. We are in a high needs area and while my students are eager we don't always have access to the resources that we need and that is where your help would be deeply appreciated. With help from DonorsChoose, we will be able to get access to resources that will take our learning to the next level.

My Project

Students will use the materials to run a class restaurant for their parents. Students have been learning about the restaurant industry, the workers in it and how to make healthy eating choices. As a culminating activity we will put our learning into action. We will take on the role of real waiters, chefs, hosts etc. Students will be able to understand what it takes to work in a restaurant and why they are so important to our communities. Often times students go to restaurant without truly understanding what it takes to work in one and now they will understand the ins and outs.
