This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our first graders are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed.
Our goal as a classroom is that we enter the classroom each day ready to try new things and be brave to make mistakes.
Mistakes lead to learning. As a teacher in an impoverished urban area, we struggle to access the resources needed to provide a quality twenty-first-century education. My goal is to provide an equitable education for each student in our classroom.
My Project
The chair pockets will be significant when I teach students how to organize their supplies. As we are still facing the current conflicts with Covid- 19, we must create learning spaces where students keep all their supplies.
Supplies cannot be shared with other students.
Safety is essential. We have used several bookshelves with bins to keep books, art supplies, math manipulatives, and headphones. We would love to keep our learning space organized, clutter-free and safe by having a class set of chair pockets.
Having supplies right in reach allows shorter transitions to increase more time for content learning.
