My Students

My classroom consists of mainly Caucasian boys and girls, ages 8 to 9. I teach 2nd grade. Our school is in a small, rural coal town that experiences poverty. Many families are mixed and many students live in foster care. Many of our families are low income or fixed income and with more than one or two siblings attending school, and when purchasing school supplies, that can get expensive. I want to ease their minds and let them know I can give them supplies. It will ease the stress for everyone.

My Project

I teach 2nd grade in a small rural coal-mining town. Many of our families cannot afford to purchase the materials required for school, and many of our families have multiple siblings attending schools. We are a high-poverty town in which most of our families struggle day-to-day. Many of our students live in mixed homes, or in foster care. I'd like to be able to help those families by giving those students the materials they will need to have a fun, exciting school year and a less stressful start. No child should have to worry about having the proper supplies!
