Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school. Ninety percent of the students we serve are socio-economically disadvantaged. Eighty-one percent of the students are Hispanic/Latino. Fourteen point two percent of the students are Asian. Three percent of the students are White, and two percent are classified as other. These kids are faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. However, those challenges do not define them. My students are encouraged to persevere and overcome through hard work. My course involves project-based learning to encourage students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers, so they have the skills necessary to succeed in life.

My Project

Students will use the supplies to create an original record album cover artwork design for a Cold War event. Students will explain how their album cover represents the event in both written and verbal form. They will use the back of the album cover to list song titles that they feel accurately represent the main points of the historical event.

This project encourages students to use art, music, and creativity to synthesize important historic information.

The students also enjoy presenting their work and learning from each other's albums. The art supplies and paper record albums will help all students have equal opportunities to turn in quality work.
