This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am entering my third year as a teacher and I am proud to be teaching fourth grade again. My classroom is filled with many different students, some who do not speak English, some with learning disabilities, and many kids in between but none less loved. This year has been a challenging one, but the students have not missed a beat, every day they show how resilient they are. These students deserve a quality education regardless of where they are.

I believe in an even playing field, that is why when my students enter my classroom, I want to make sure that they have all of the resources they need.

Whether it's flexible seating or intervention programs, they should have access to quality education.

I know that with help from DonorsChoose, we will be able to provide a classroom that helps our students thrive.

My Project

Unfortunately, we do not have central air in our school building, additionally, some of the classrooms (like mine) do not have air conditioners installed. It is extremely important that our students stay hydrated throughout the day. As a result of the new procedures put in place, students are no longer allowed to use the water fountain and must bring in water bottles. Unfortunately, the condensation from these bottles may cause damage to any papers on the table and placing them on the floor is unsanitary.

This project will allow me to purchase water bottle holders that will go on the side of their desks and allow them to use the desks for instruction.

Additionally, the lanyards requested will allow for students to keep their masks with them at all time without having to place them on their desks.

Having these supplies will ensure that the students are safe and free from unnecessary inconveniences.
