My Students

Going in to this school year, I knew it would be unlike any other school year I have ever experienced. Though I have been teaching for 7 years, this is my first year teaching third grade in person--as last year I spent teaching online. I was unsure what to expect from my third graders at the beginning of the school year, but knew they would be excited to get back into the classroom, get back to socializing, and get back to learning with a teacher and other students.

I am continuously amazed by the students in my classroom.

They are eager to learn each day, positive, and kind to others (abiding by the Golden Rule mantra). The resilience they have shown is remarkable. It truly is a class like no other. I feel so lucky to be their teacher!

My Project

The book bins that I have asked for will be used to promote reading in the classroom, as students will fill their bins with books from our classroom library. With distance learning last year, many of my students have not held a book in their hands since the last time they were in a classroom.

The TIME Magazine articles will be used to integrate multiple reading and social studies standards, as well as focus on informational text--which many students have minimal experience with.

The rug will be used to create a welcoming classroom environment, helping with social-emotional learning. Students will be able to gather together in a designated area.
