My Students

The majority of my students come from low-income families. Also, their parents are working parents who sometimes work through the day and night to help support their families. Although their parents are interested in their education, sometimes it is difficult for them to be involved and to help them because they are too busy trying to make ends meet. So the majority of their learning happens in school and only at school. It is important that, as their teacher, I have quality materials to help ensure that they are learning to the best of their abilities.

Many of my students are interested in learning, but it's difficult for them to do so because of certain struggles that they are dealing with at home.

A few of my students are living in shelters and come to school with the same clothing on for a week. Some of them don't have socks on their feet and their shoes are too small. Many of the students also live in homes with only one parent due to split ups or divorce. My students are sweet, innocent children who deserve the very best education.

My Project

Having basic supplies in our classroom will help both the students and the teacher! There are so many useful resources online that need to be printed but without ink and printer paper it can’t be done. Anchor charts for both reading and writing are a must in first grade to show examples and to model for the students. Having the proper markers to make these charts is so helpful because the students have a colorful visual of the charts. These basic classroom supplies will go a long way in my classroom and they will benefit and support my student’s learning!
