Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine going to school and not having even a pencil to work with? These are the challenges some of my students face on a daily basis. They have to struggle every day at home and I want to make school something that they enjoy coming to.

My students are a group of very bright kids whose home situations make it difficult for them to learn.

They are gifted and extremely creative, but need the supplies to enable and encourage their learning. They attend a title one inner city school in Florida.

My Project

With these materials I hope to be able to make learning more fun. Hopefully we will be able to do many projects and make the books that we're reading come to life. With the Time for Kids magazines I want them to have access to non-fiction reading so that picking up a newspaper will not seem so overwhelming. The rug will be used to create a cozy reading area where they can feel comfortable to lose themselves in a book. The other materials are basic art supplies to help them complete different projects.

Donating to my classroom will make a huge difference to the kids.

It will show them all the different things that they can accomplish and how creative they can be. I want to make my classroom a home away from home and a place where they can look forward to coming to. I teach them in elementary where I can hopefully encourage a life long love of learning.
