My Students

My students and I spent this spring in distance learning and we are starting this year in distance learning as well. In many ways distance learning has been a struggle for my students; they are dealing with confined learning spaces, uncertain living environments and inequitable access to resources. My students and I are separated by sickness, uncertainty and space; at the same time, we are united by our love, our history together and our dedication to learning.

We are living through history.

My students are incredible people. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.

My Project

My students and I participated in distance learning this past spring (like much of the country). It was difficult; we missed each other and our routines and the enrichment I am able to provide in our school setting. We are in distance learning again this fall, or learning in school under very different circumstances than usual. Having engaging art and science projects and providing my students with the supplies has made a huge difference in our overall experience.

I'm excited to continue to do new projects this year with my students while they are learning at home.

In order to do that we all need to have the same supplies. I think that this would be a great chance for my students and me to do something together even if we are apart. My students and I will need supplies to make a hot air balloon and a paper cup telephone (remember those?) and a drawing robot, using an electric toothbrush and a pool noodle (how cool is that?). Thank you for inspiring us and giving my scientists and I a chance to create together.
