This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently work as a 2nd grade special education teacher in the South Bronx, NY. These little superheroes are no higher than 5 feet tall but are saving the world by responsibly practicing social distancing in the classroom. More than 90% of our students receive free lunch. Our students have a lot of potential that needs to be nurtured. Despite the adversities, they show up each day ready to learn. They are my inspiration!

My Project

As a second-grade teacher, my goal is for each of my students to have the necessary resources to succeed. My students need basic school supplies for classroom activities. Due to delays in shipment and shortage of print materials, my school has not received all the required supplies for this school year.

Working with students with disabilities requires some specialized materials that help meet their specific needs.

To give one example, some students break their pencils daily because of they develop anxiety from learning new information- bendy pencils to the rescue!
