This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are resilient, loving, and eager to learn. Everyday they walk through the door putting their best foot forward, but circumstances often hold them back.

Coming from a low socio-economic area in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood does not stop them from trying their hardest to be the best they can be!

These kids have over come challenges that are hard to imagine and they do it everyday with smiles on their faces. They deserve equitable access to supplies and technology, so that they can have equitable access to success!

We are a Title I school, where over 98% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them struggle to purchase supplies and most of them lack access to computers at home. Unfortunately, because many of my students' families struggle financially they cannot buy the materials they need for their child's academic success.

My Project

Headphones will be used in the technology center, where my English Language Learners will receive computer based lessons using interactive websites. Sand boxes, pipe cleaners, markers, pencils, play-doh, and paper will be used to practice writing and phonics through tactile learning, while refining fine motor skills . Binders, dividers, pens, storage bags, and post-its will be used to help students stay organized, tag new vocabulary words, and make corrections while being provided constructive feedback!

These supplies will help students gain access to technology, practice and refine fine motor skills, and gain phonemic awareness and phonics skills via fun interactive materials.
