My Students

I teach a 4th-grade Inclusion class at a New York City, Title I elementary school where all children qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My students are both general and special education.

My classroom is a diverse population of students from a mosaic of cultures.

My challenge is to differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of such a diverse family of students who are in language acquisition and basic learning modes. With students of such different learning abilities, I strive to create an inclusive and warm accepting classroom.

My goal this year is to create a dynamic and warm 4th-grade family where all my students feel free to express themselves and feel pride in who they are. As I tap into the talents of my students, it's important for me to have the supplies they need to create and learn.

You can make a difference by giving my students a wonderful new avenue for expression.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting will help to ensure my students have the tools they need in order to have a successful school year. Having notebooks, glue sticks, dry erase boards and markers, markers for charts and post-its will help my students become more engaged in learning. The notebooks will be used for the students to create a writer's notebook/journal, where they can write down stories, poems or just thoughts they have throughout the day. The post-its are a great way for the students to write down thoughts or questions they have while they are engaged in a lesson. The dry erase boards and markers will be a great tool, especially for math, during the fluency practices. The bright colored paper and chart markers will be used to make our classroom a "bright spot" whenever they enter the room.

The donations to this project will help to improve the success of all my students.

It will ensure a classroom of engagement and improve their focus and attention throughout the day.
