Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach biology in a large high school in an urban school district in Connecticut. My students come to me with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, but they are all focused on reaching their greatest potential.
Every child learns in their own way, and I strive to create a classroom environment with learning opportunities to support all learners.
I want to provide my students the best education possible so that they gain the skills and confidence to succeed so that they can achieve their goals.
My Project
Students have basic needs that help them to grow as students. Without the right tools to get started, they cannot dig into the serious work of learning. The supplies for this project will allow my students to focus on thinking critically and creatively.
Something as simple as an electric pencil sharpener can cut down on distraction and wasted time in class.
Having a selection of coloring utensils will allow the students to focus on sharing their ideas through modeling and diagrams without having to wait their turn to use just the right color marker.
With these supplies, my students will be free to focus on their learning without being held back by basic needs.
