My Students

I teach in a diverse, Title I school in a suburb of Washington, DC. Preschool is often the children's first time being away from their parents, so I strive to make it a fun and engaging environment.

My preschool class includes two, three, four, and five-year-olds with special needs as well as a few typically developing peer models.

The children have a variety of disabilities, including Down Syndrome, blindness, autism, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, and language disorders. I also have a few students who are typically developing who serve as peer models for language and socialization. My students come from culturally and linguistically diverse families and many face socio-economic challenges.

My Project

As the year is half-way through, our supplies are running low and we need new storage solutions to keep our classroom neat and tidy. We have a new curriculum this year, and with that, it means creating new materials and finding new toys and games for my students. We need new storage boxes to help keep toys clean and organized. We need a box or bin for each study and new boxes to replace broken and dirty bins. Laminating sheets and tape will help to keep paper materials from showing wear and tear and allow students to interact with adapted books and games. Velcro, along with laminating sheets and file folders, will help us create new activities and materials for learning and behavioral support. Velcro gets used for everything from hanging curtains to making token boards and interactive books. And new scissors will help with cutting and prepping all these new materials!

I make many of my own materials for my students and these supplies will help with the creation and storage of these activities.

I love making resources to support my students and I know these supplies will help keep my classroom running for the rest of the year.
