My Project

My students are bored of completing simple questions on paper. They thrive when they're given the opportunity to work on creative projects that gives them hands on opportunities to engage with the art and science of writing. For example, this week, I gave students a poster project where they were asked to explain concepts using a variety of pictures and words, to show their understanding of abstract concepts within a novel. Although this same objective could have been accomplished with a simple worksheet, students loved incorporating art into their learning.

I was amazed with how the classroom was abuzz with engaged conversation.

I even had students staying after to complete the assignment, simply because they wanted to.

At our special admission school, our students are bright and eager to learn, but often can't count on their institution having the resources to fully let their creativity and eagerness to learn flourish. Throughout the school year, I have had trouble supplying even the most basic of supplies for my students. With your help, I can teach my class inside a room with an abundance of materials, instead of worrying about how students can make truly wonderful projects on printer paper with only 2 boxes of markers.
