Help our students strengthen their portfolios so that they can win scholarship money and acceptance into art schools! Help us buy materials for a mixed media resin project.
My students are in grades 9 through 12 in a suburban public school.
In each class, there are regular educations students, special education students, life skills students, at-risk students, limited english proficient students, and gifted and talented students. I have a culturally diverse classroom with students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Some students have had the opportunity to take art since elementary school while others are experiencing art for the very first time. In my classroom, students learn learn the basics of sculpture and ceramics in Art I. I also teach Sculpture II and III and Ceramics II and III where students learn more complex technigques and work at greater length on art of a larger scale both conceptually and aesthetically.
My Project
I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to work with a media that they may never have the chance to work with again. In this case that media is resin, paint and dyes. Allowing the students to experiment with new media allows them to open up their minds to greater possibilities.
By making a lesson on resin possible, we may discover a future artist whose preferred media is resin, such as the following Japanese artist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bmKJuGW8iY.
