My Students

My Coronavirus Pandemic has upended an inspiring school year. My students live in a densely populated area of our city. It is the neighborhood in our city that has the most identified cases of Corona. My students need basic school supplies.

My kids are fantastic.

They are the best class I have had in 24 years of teaching. They are so witty, curious, caring to one another, and always willing to help each other and me. They have been devastated by this pandemic. This was their last year in elementary and they were looking forward to all of the activities that fifth graders to participate in. We had fieldtrips, a luncheon, a dance, field day and a graduation that will not be happening. Their graduation will be online.

My Project

My students are at home. Many of the stores that sell school supplies near them are closed. They are working on 100% of their school work at home. We are so lucky to be participating in an Art Class every Friday.

The kids need supplies to be able to complete their classwork including art proects at home.

They will use these supplies this year and next year when they go on to middle school. We need scissors, glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils and construction paper to achieve this.

Earlier this year, we were so happy to be able to go to a community art school twice a week for 12 weeks. We learned so many new techniques and art forms that we would love to be able to recreate from home.
