Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our student population is a beautifully rich and diverse mix of cultures and languages. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population.

Knowledge is the key to help us achieve our potential.

Because of the neighborhood in which they grow up, they need school to be a safe learning environment that offers both challenges and an outlet for creativity. When they are given the opportunity, they constantly surprise their teachers with their ingenuity and brilliant ideas!

My Project

We are planning to engage students in the learning process. We want them to work in pairs and groups and have them assess their own work. Cork boards and dry - erase boards with markers will make this possible. When students are highly engaged in their learning they are able to do higher level thinking which can be guided towards critical thinking.

We want to foster independent learning and critical thinking as well as team work and self discipline.

We would like for students to engage each other in the learning process in a meaningful and productive way. These materials will aid in this process. It will also give students a sense of responsibility toward their learning.
