This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a model school that incorporates performing arts, visual arts, coding, computer science, and STEM (STEAM) within the curriculum. Our urban school receives federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast and lunch for every student, and Title I services to economically disadvantaged boys and girls.
We are a class which includes military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, inclusion/special education students, and the tech savvy.
My students are energetic and very busy within the classroom. Even with parental support, I would love to say that my students have everything that they need to be successful. But they don't. We are preparing students for college, the workforce, and the world beyond, so they can have a better life.
My Project
We send school supply list home and our parents try their best to get their student's supplies, but some are not able to. Students should not have to come in class and worry about if the classroom is stocked with the necessary supplies for instruction.
Every child's class should have necessary supplies to complete instruction in whole group, small group, and independent.
I am requesting Post-It chart paper to use through instruction to make anchor charts in all content area to post around the class. We also need file folders and chart paper markers to write on the chart paper and for the students to include in subject notebooks to make vocabulary briefcases to learn content words and meaning.
Your support of our back to school efforts will ensure that every students starts this school year off on a good note.
