This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Starting another school year with new teachers and new peers can be both exciting and a little scary. The students at my school start the year off eager to learn, however they don't always come with the tools that are needed in order to ensure success in the classroom like common school supplies.

I teach a diverse group of students with vibrant personalities!

They are all unique and have something to bring to the classroom to make it more interesting. Unfortunately many of my students are not able to afford basic supplies needed for school. On top of that, the spending budget for each teacher each year is extremely limited. I want my students to have the best experience in my classroom and feel that regardless of what they bring to school with them on any given day, they can still be successful because of all the materials available to them at school.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will be used for basic day to day use. Pencils and paper allow students to always have something to write with and write on regardless of what they come to school with that day. Index cards are a great study tool and are also extremely helpful with ESL students especially those students who speak very little English. My students will use the poster board to display information from different research projects they will be conducting during the year. They really enjoy be able to do projects encourage them to learn about something they know very little about. The poster board will help them organize their information so they can explain to others what they learned. Lastly, students will take pride in keeping their classroom clean and organized with new cleaning supplies and bins for organizing classroom materials!

My students are always incredibly thankful when they see a project has been funded through Donors Choose.

They know with these materials they will be able to complete more interesting projects that really showcase all of their skills!
