This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine coming to school on the first day with no supplies. Imagine being one of the many student who can not afford basic school supplies. Imagine being a student who relies on the school to supply you with the basic materials needed to start the school year. How would it affect your learning?

My students has a range of disabilities, I teach a self-contained special education class.

I teach in a high poverty school. Many families are financially challenged. My students are curious, respectful and hard working students. My students are a energetic group. They are excited to come to school and learn everyday. The supplies we are asking for are essential for their learning.

My Project

We are asking for basic supplies, pencils, composition books, sharpener. The budget crisis has not only affected our school but the parents of our students as well. This crisis has left teachers to take care of the difference out of our own pockets. I wish I could provide them with everything they need but it starts to get very expensive. Donors Choose has provided me with the opportunity to reach out to people that can help me provide supplies that will allow my students to succeed.

With these basic school supplies, the students will be able to jump start the new school year off on the right note.
