My Students

My students have difficulty reading and attend a school that does not buy expensive chemistry equipment or supplies. I want to make Chemistry more engaging and exciting for students, which will make them more likely to learn. Our Chemistry program does not have a budget.

My students are primarily at-risk, urban, minority teenagers that read below grade level.

Most of them live in poverty and receive free/reduced lunch. My students enjoy demos and hands-on activities. Many of them are visual learners. I would like to do a demo a day for the entire school year. I think this project would really help them. When students and a teacher get excited about a subject, grades go up, students pass their tests, and everyone wins.

My Project

I am requesting supplies, worksheets, and demos for my Chemistry classes. These demos will make Chemistry more exciting and help students to want to learn. It will also make Chemistry concepts easier to understand because students can actually see a concept instead of just reading about it.

This project is important because Chemistry can be very fun and engaging when it is taught with lots of demos and experiments.

Once the fire is lit within a student, they can become a self-sustaining learner for the rest of their life.
