Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title One school. Ninety percent of the students we serve are socio-economically disadvantaged. Eighty-one percent of the students are Hispanic/Latino. Fourteen point two percent of the students are Asian. Three percent of the students are White, and two percent are classified as other. These kids are faced with many challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. However, those challenges do not define them. My students are encouraged to persevere and overcome through hard work. My course involves project based learning to encourage students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers, so they have the skills necessary to succeed in life.

My Project

My students will need these supplies to display original products in a school wide economics fair. Students have created their own businesses and their own original products. Students need the tri-fold display boards, markers, scissors, and glue to display their products.

They must include the factors of production they used to create their product, the results of a demand survey they created for their product, a list of input costs, an estimated break even point and estimated total revenue.

Students will be using the sticky notes throughout the creation portion of this project to give feed back to each other. They will given "elevator pitches" to each other and giving/receiving feedback from each other on sticky notes. They will then use the feedback to make the necessary changes to their products.

Students will use tickets to purchase each others' products and to vote for the best invention, best presentation, and best overall product.

The students who are voted best will receive "screen daddy" products as a prize for winning. The "screen daddy" has become a symbol to our class. It represents a BEST invention to OUR CLASS because they have studied and analyzed the entrepreneur that invented the Scrub Daddy on the Shark Tank show.
